PAST Pathways Across STEAM and Time: Where History Meets STEAM is an Erasmus+ co-funded project that seeks to rethink the way History is taught in secondary schools by connecting it with modern STEAM approaches. The project responds to the need for more interdisciplinary, engaging, and future-oriented education, where historical knowledge is not isolated but linked to scientific, technological, artistic, and ethical perspectives.
By fostering dialogue between disciplines, PAST encourages a more holistic understanding of both past and present challenges. It supports the development of innovative teaching practices that make learning more dynamic, inquiry-based, and relevant to students’ real-life experiences. Through international cooperation and shared expertise, the project contributes to building a stronger European educational community grounded in collaboration and innovation.

PAST aims to support teachers in adopting integrative and innovative teaching methods that bridge History and STEAM subjects. By doing so, the project encourages students to develop critical thinking skills and to better understand the historical, scientific, and ethical dimensions of the contemporary world. Through a combination of research, collaboration, and experimentation, PAST promotes a meaningful learning experience that reflects the complexity of today’s society.
Throughout its implementation, the project develops a comprehensive research framework and a set of recommendations for integrating History and STEAM education. It provides teachers with structured training modules, practical guidelines, and ready-to-use teaching scenarios that are piloted, tested, and improved in real classroom settings. Quality assurance and evaluation activities ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of the results.
As a result, PAST contributes to strengthening teachers’ competences, enhancing students’ engagement, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across European schools. The project also develops a clear dissemination strategy and organises multiplier events to maximise its impact, supporting the creation of a more innovative, inclusive, and modern educational environment where History truly meets STEAM.
